LCN Manifesto
My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness
2 CORINTHIANS 12:9
History
LCN is part of an unfolding story that connects with the mainstream of Christian history and indeed the great story of God's calling to humankind across the centuries. It's important to know our history and our identity as it shapes who we are and the future that we are discovering together. So here is a brief summary of where we fit into that great story.

For a detailed history of the church, contact Pastor Eddy who has built a fascinating and detailed history as we prepare for our centenary in 2010.

Christian
We are in the very center of the Christian tradition, conservatively affirming the great truths and creeds of the Christian faith, yet having a liberal openness in all non-essential matters, and always a love for each other and God's people. As Protestant Christians we extend a hand of friendship to our Catholic cousins on one side, and our Orthodox cousins on the other. As Protestant Christians, faith in Christ is the center of our life and we hold the Bible as the standard for practice and belief. We understand that God works through loving grace to invite all people into a for-ever relationship. He then works in us to grow us to be like Him.

Nazarene
As a Church of the Nazarene, we follow a century of Wesleyan tradition. Nazarenes love to worship God with our whole lives, understanding that Jesus Christ longs to change the hearts of believers to make us like Him. We believe in education, embracing science and the humanities to discover an informed faith. Nazarenes operate universities and colleges in every part of the US and around the world. We believe in compassionate missions, with a long history of ministering among the humble in society. LCN's local work at Helping Hands and our water-well drilling in Haiti express this strand of our history.

A Local Community
We've been in the Londonderry/Derry area for 100 years. Starting as a home prayer group in Derry in 1908 we became the Derry Church of the Nazarene in 1910, moving to Londonderry in 1975. We've worshipped in a variety of locations across the years, always remaining relevant to the times and valuing Christian community above buildings. LCN people worship, live and work here in our community. We work closely with other local churches of every type and with the other 100+ Nazarene churches in New England.
